Masks by Shel Silverstein.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

Sooo most people I know hate on my rap music….but if you don’t, take a listen ;] I have to say that switching from secular to Christian rap has been huge in keeping my focus on Christ…I’m realizing that what you allow into your life is what you allow to influence you, and changing the song can really change the heart’s focus.
Colossians 3:2 has certainly challenged me in this:
”Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”, [and then in verse 16], “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the verse refers to teaching and admonishing through music. It’s a tool with infinite potential to either build or destruct.
….And, I have to say, it’s been pretty fantastic going through finals week singing “God is enough-nough! You are enough-nough!”
:]
Goood stuff!
